ĐÀ NẴNG — Local authorities in the central city of Đà Nẵng said they are looking into two foreigners photographed holding a sign begging for money in the city.

The image shows one man and one woman standing in Tôn Đức Thắng-Ngô Văn Sở crossroad in Liên Chiểu District, Đà Nẵng City holding a cardboard poster with the message “Help. Have no money”.

It was spread widely on social media on Tuesday, online newspaper Vietnamnet reported.

The city’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has requested relevant authorities to verify the information about this incident, said Nguyễn Thị Thu Hương, deputy director of the department.

Just a few days ago, another foreigner was spotted begging for money in Đà Nẵng. The tourist has a travel visa valid until March 14, according to Hương.

Residents claimed he would often beg for money during the day and went to bars in the area in the evening.
