HCM City seeks $43 bil investment in 197 projects

HCM City is soliciting investment of VNĐ945 trillion (US$40.9 billion) in 197 projects this year, its People’s Committee has announced.

HCM CITY — HCM City is soliciting investment of VNĐ945 trillion (US$40.9 billion) in 197 projects this year, its People’s Committee has announced.

They include many key traffic infrastructure works, including the HCM City-Mộc Bài Expressway and the urban railway line that requires investments of VNĐ15.9 trillion ($688.4 trillion) and VNĐ427 trillion ($18.4 billion).

An 8.7km road parallel to National Highway 50 will cost more than VNĐ3.8 trillion ($164.4 million) and extension of Võ Văn Kiệt Boulevard from Ring Road No. 3 to the Long An Province border is budgeted at VNĐ13.8 trillion ($597.8 million).

Others include the 9.5km elevated road No.1 through districts 1, 3, Tân Bình, Bình Thạnh, and Phú Nhuận and costing VNĐ17.5 trillion and No.5 through Thủ Đức City and districts 12, Bình Tân and Hóc Môn costing VNĐ15.4 trillion.

Twelve metro routes worth VNĐ427.3 trillion are also in the list.

For environmental protection, waste and wastewater treatment and flooding prevention works, the city needs VNĐ40 trillion, and it includes a domestic-waste treatment project with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes a day, a solid-waste treatment and power plant with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes a day and a waste collection and treatment system in the Tân Hóa-Lò Gốm urban area.

The city also eyes housing building projects costing VNĐ52 trillion, including the Hiệp Phước urban area in Nhà Bè District and commercial centres and residential areas in the Thủ Thiêm New Urban Area.

Industry, trade and service, education and training, healthcare, culture, sports, and tourism projects make up the rest of the list.

The Department of Planning and Investment will publicise the 197 projects and submit them to the Ministry of Planning and Investment. — VNS
