HCM City sets up committee to steer digital transformation

The HCM City People’s Committee has formed a steering committee to oversee the city’s digital transformation programme by merging two existing ones for the smart urban and e-government development projects.

HCM CITY — The HCM City People’s Committee has formed a steering committee to oversee the city’s digital transformation programme by merging two existing ones for the smart urban and e-government development projects.

People’s Committee Chairman Phan Văn Mãi is the head of the 23-member committee and deputy chairman Dương Anh Đức is its standing deputy head.

The heads of various departments such as information and communications, home affairs, science and technology, finance, and public security and of the Institute for Research and Development are deputy heads or members.

The steering committee is tasked with drafting and implementing yearly plans for both the digital transformation programme and smart urban project.

Digital government, economy and society are three major components of the digital transformation programme with a focus on administrative reform, improvement in public services and creating convenience for individuals and businesses.

The adoption of applications to increase the frequency of interactions between the government and citizens will be embraced under the programme.

It will speed up support for businesses adopting digital transformation.

The city targets that at least 90 per cent of the public and businesses should be satisfied with administrative procedures by 2025. — VNS
