HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội People’s Committee on Tuesday approved the proposal of the municipal Department of Education and Training, allowing students from grades 1 to 6 in 12 urban districts to return to school from February 21 after nine months of online instruction due to COVID-19.

Kindergarten children will continue to stay at home to prevent the spread of the virus.

Students will learn in-person on weekdays based on school timetables.

In-person learning will be organised in areas with the pandemic at levels 1 and 2. Areas with the pandemic at levels 3 and 4 will continue with lessons online, and schools will be responsible for the arrangements of teachers.

Students will only study half-day, not have lunches at school and drink water from their own bottles.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated teachers will only be allowed to conduct lessons virtually.

The Steering Committees for COVID-19 Prevention and Control of the districts are responsible for approving plans to welcome students back as well as pandemic prevention and control.

Secretaries of the Party Committees and Chairpersons of the People's Committees of the localities are responsible for deciding whether students can return to school and continuing to improve infrastructure and human resources, and ensuring sufficient equipment for medical forces at schools.

Earlier, Hà Nội let students from grades 1 to 6 in 18 suburban districts return to school from February 10.
