Indonesian President Joko Widodo said the two countries' strategic partnership had not only brought benefits to the two countries but also contributed to peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

National Assembly Chairman Vương Đình Huệ suggested taking peace as the goal, dialogue as the tool, and cooperation as the motto to address disputes in the spirit of respect for law, in line with common principles and code of conduct, as well as international law.

NA Chairman Huệ said that as a responsible member, Việt Nam will put in the utmost efforts alongside ASEAN countries and AIPA members in building a stable, prosperous and sustainable ASEAN community.

The two sides shared delight at the sound friendship and expanding cooperation between the two countries. They noted that bilateral economic partnership is growing strongly, with Thailand being Việt Nam's largest trade partner and the second biggest investors among ASEAN members.

The two leaders agreed to boost the bilateral ties in a more substantive manner, particularly in economics, trade and investment, and to strive to bring two-way trade to soon hit US$10 billion.

Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono expressed his hope that Hà Nội and Jakarta, which set up twinned relations in 2004, will continue stepping up the exchange of experience and cooperation in the fields of transport, city administration, and service industry.

Antara news agency wrote that the visit is very important and shows that Vietnam’s foreign policy attaches importance to bilateral relations with Indonesia and wants to contribute to building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous environment in the region.

The Vietnamese Government leader urged US lawmakers to limit trade defence measures and technical barriers, creating favourable conditions for Việt Nam’s main exports such as agriculture, forestry, and aquatic products to enter the US market.

Ambassador Vũ Hồ, head of SOM ASEAN Việt Nam, attended senior officials’ meetings of ASEAN+3, the East Asia Summit (EAS), the ASEAN Maritime ASEAN Forum (AMF) and the Expanded ASEAN Maritime Forum (EAMF) in Indonesia from July 31 to August 4.
