Funeral for three police officers in Đồng Tâm protest to be held

The funeral for three police officers who died in Đồng Tâm during a protest against Hà Nội authorities will be organised following the rituals of the People’s Police forces, according to the latest announcement by the Ministry of Public Security.

HÀ NỘI — The funeral for three police officers who died in Đồng Tâm during a protest against Hà Nội authorities will be organised following the rituals of the People’s Police forces, according to the latest announcement by the Ministry of Public Security.

The funeral will be held from 7.30 in the morning to 12.30 noon on Thursday, at the National Funeral Home at 5 Trần Thánh Tông Street in Hà Nội.

A group of villagers attacked soldiers building a wall at Miếu Môn Airport in Đồng Tâm Commune, Mỹ Đức District early last Thursday, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The clash ended with three police officers and one protester killed, while another protester was injured.

The three police officers are Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Nguyễn Huy Thịnh, 48, Captain Phạm Công Huy, 27 and Senior Lieutenant Dương Đức Hoàng Quân, 26.

For their bravery in protecting the nation’s security and people’s lives, they were posthumously awarded the Feat Order by President Nguyễn Phú Trọng, as well as certificates for their service to the nation by Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc. — VNS
