Việt Nam considers WB top development partner: Deputy PM

WB will continue to accompany the Vietnamese Government in the next phase of development, work with Việt Nam in building the Việt Nam 2045 report, and help the country realise its development goals.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam considers the World Bank a top development partner, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang said in his reception for Country Director for WB Việt Nam Carolyn Turk in Hà Nội on Tuesday.

Quang appreciated the WB’s support for Việt Nam through preferential loans amounting to US$25 billion so far along with technical assistance and policy consultancy, which positively contributed to Việt Nam's socio-economic development since 1993 to now.

He also appreciated the role of Turk as Country Director in securing major programmes and projects funded by the WB which helped create growth impetus for Việt Nam's localities.

Deputy PM Quang expressed hope for further development of the Việt Nam-WB partnership in the future, and affirmed that Việt Nam's ministries and sectors would actively coordinate with the WB in building the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for 2023-2027.

For her part, Turk affirmed that the WB would continue to accompany the Vietnamese Government in the next phase of development, work with Việt Nam in building the Việt Nam 2045 report, and help the country realise its development goals. — VNS
