HÀ NỘI — The Friends of Vietnam Heritage (FVH) will host a film night presenting the award-winning movie Huyền Thoại Về Người Mẹ (Legend of Mothers) by director Bạch Diệp.

The 1987 movie is a touching story about a beautiful woman named Hương, a midwife at a hospital of obstetrics. Her husband has joined the army. Despite facing great danger and challenges, she adopted three newborn babies, the children of resistance and intelligence officers.

The film also tells the story of the silent sacrifices of female revolutionaries who overcame danger in their personal lives in order to carry out their duties. When liberation day comes, Hương’s husband does not return: He died on the battlefield, while her mother passed away. At that time, the joy she felt at being the mother to three adopted children also disappears as they return to their original families.

The movie, starring Trà Giang – one of most famous Vietnamese movie actress – won the “Silver Prize” in the Việt Nam Film Festival in 1988.

The screening will take place from 7.30pm to 9pm tonight at the Việt Nam Feature Films Studio. Maximum 50 people may attend. Register: van@fvheritage.org. Fee: VNĐ150,000. — VNS
