HÀ NỘI – The Ministry of Education and Training has launched a contest to find new songs on teachers, schools and education themes to encourage the educational workforce and evoke pride among teachers.
Deputy Minister Phạm Ngọc Thưởng said many songs inspired by teachers have lived in a lifetime in the musical industry and won the hearts of many generations of teachers and students.
Vietnamese composers at home and abroad can send entries to the contest until December 15. The awards ceremony will take place at the end of December.
The organising board expects the contest to attract good songs which are high in quality and have creativity in lyrics and rhythm, bearing the atmosphere of modernity and social issues. The songs can be written for a solo, duo, trio, singing group or choir.
The songs should reflect the beauty of teaching and training, honour the devotion of the educational workforce, the development of Vietnamese education in the new era and the relationship between teachers and students.
People’s Artist Phạm Ngọc Khôi, vice chairman of the Việt Nam Association of Musicians, said the contest promised to find good songs as it drew the participation of professional composers such as Giáng Son and Hoàng Long. VNS
