ĐIỆN BIÊN — Lò Thị Vui, a member of the Thái ethnic minority in Điện Biên, has been crowned Miss Ban Flower 2019.

The beauty pageant was held as part of the Ban Flower Festival 2019 in Điện Biên Phủ City, which ended on Monday.

“I will try my best to become a tour guide to promote the beauty and customs of Điện Biên. I will find ways to attract more tourists to the locality,” said Vui, who is working at the province’s Department of Education and Training.

The runner-up and second runner-up were Lê Thùy Trang from Điện Biên Phủ City and Lò Thị Hải Yến from Mường Chà District, respectively.

The contest attracted 200 candidates from all over Việt Nam, among whom 18 were selected for the final round which included an evening gown and swimsuit competition.

Điện Biên is home to more than 30 ethnic groups including Thái, Mông, Kinh, Dao, Khơ Mú, Hà Nhì, Tày and Nùng, among which Thái accounts for the most with about 38 per cent of the province’s population. — VNS
