THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — The Hồ Chí Minh Trail has been listed among 11 prominent national heritage sites, according to a recent announcement from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In Việt Nam, the site is known as the Trường Sơn Trail, which illustrates the military trail running across the Trường Sơn Mountain Range. The trail runs through the provinces of Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, Thừa Thiên-Huế, Quảng Nam, Kon Tum and Bình Phước.

The central region has another four heritage recognised in the ministry’s decision. They are the Champa Nhạn Tower in Phú Yên, the Lê Hoàn temple of worship in Thanh Hóa, Buôn Ma Thuột’s purnishing house in Đắk Lắk, and Marble Mountain in Đà Nẵng.

The remaining sites included in the list of 11 are those located in the northern delta. They are the Thái Lạc Pagoda in Hưng Yên, Thổ Tang Temple in Vĩnh Phúc, and Na Hang-Lâm Bình nature reserve in Tuyên Quang.

The capital city of Hà Nội has three. They are Tường Phiêu Temple in Phúc Thọ District, So Temple in Quốc Oai District, and Đống Đa Mound in Đống Đa District.

The recognition is part of the ministry’s attempt to highlight the cultural and historical values of buildings and landscapes. According to the ministry, the recognition is also meaningful for the protection of the country’s ancient legacy.

The ministry regulates responsibility of local authorities where the heritage item is based in protecting the buildings and landscapes. — VNS
