French books on southern history released in Vietnamese

More than 12 new titles of ancient books featuring the history of South Việt Nam have been published by the Trẻ (Youth) Publishing House to celebrate the house’s 35th birthday.

HCM CITY — More than 12 new titles of ancient books featuring the history of South Việt Nam have been published by the Trẻ (Youth) Publishing House to celebrate the house’s 35th birthday.

The books were written in French by members of the Indochina Scientific Research Association. They were translated into Vietnamese by a group of translators led by Nguyễn Nghị.

The books feature information and documents related to the history and development of Gia Định, Bến Tre, Châu Đốc and Vĩnh Long.

More than 600 titles of books written by famous Vietnamese authors and cultural researchers have also been republished.

Featured books are about the South’s culture and lifestyle, written by researchers such as Vương Hồng Sển, Nguyễn Đình Đầu and Nguyễn Đổng Chi. — VNS
