HCM CITY – Vietnamese and foreign photographers, both amateurs and professionals, are encouraged to take part in the third HCM City International Photography Contest.

The contest is organised by the HCM City Photography Association (HOPA) and sponsored by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), Image Sans Frontière (ISF), and the Việt Nam Photography Artists’ Association (VAPA).

The contest consists of four categories: freestyle in colour, freestyle in monochrome, the world through the lenses (colour and monochrome), and children's photos (colour and monochrome).

The photos should introduce the beauty, culture, tourism and people of Việt Nam and HCM City to people from all over the world.

Each contestant can submit a maximum of four photos for each category at website hopaphotocontest3rd.com by 11:59pm on October 15.

The awards ceremony will be held at the second HCM City International Photography Festival, which will take place from November 22 to December 2 at Paris Square in District 1.

The festival will include an exhibition with the theme of Thế Giới Qua Ống Kính Nhiếp Ảnh (The World Through the Lenses), showcasing photos chosen from the contest.

In addition, an exhibition titled Cảnh Đẹp Ba Miền Việt Nam (The Beauty of Nature in Việt Nam) will be held at the Youth Cultural House, featuring photos taken by members of photography associations in the city, Huế, Hà Nội, Đắk Lắk, Cần Thơ, and Bạc Liêu.

A photography fair and workshops will also be held at the cultural house, offering 100 stalls displaying cameras and accessories, printers and supplies from well-known suppliers.

The organiser will launch a photo symposium with the theme of Thành Phố Hồ Chí Minh Qua Góc Nhìn Nhiếp Ảnh Quốc Tế (HCM City Through the Lenses of International Photographers) in the city.

The symposium is expected to attract around 100 Vietnamese and international photographers. — VNS
