HÀ NỘI — A business delegation from China is paying a visit to Việt Nam to study the possibility of investing and importing agro-fishery-forestry products from the Southeast Asian country.
At a working session in Hà Nội on Monday with officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), several Chinese enterprises agreed to import 100,000 tonnes of rice from Việt Nam.
Some other businesses wanted to import cá lóc – a kind of freshwater fish – and fresh sweet potatoes and durians from Việt Nam.
Representatives of the Chinese firms said they hope to set up partnerships with major Vietnamese companies that are able to provide large amounts of products through official channels.
Trần Văn Công, deputy director of the Agro Processing and Market Development Authority, introduced the Chinese businesspeople to domestic enterprises which are eligible to export argo-fishery-forestry products and pledged to ensure the highest standards.
The Chinese businesses also expressed their wish to invest in Việt Nam in the fields of hi-tech applications and clean agricultural production.
During their stay until Saturday, members of the delegation are scheduled to work with localities such as HCM City and the southern provinces of Tiền Giang, Bình Thuận and Bình Phước to learn about potential import products. — VNS
