HCM CITY — Toll fees on the HCM City – Long Thành – Dầu Giây Expressway, from National Highway 51 to Đồng Nai Province’s Dầu Giây District, will be reduced by 10 per cent beginning in August, according to the Việt Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC).

The new scheme, to be applied to trucks classified in categories 4 and 5, aims to help transport firms and encourage the use of expressways.

The tolls for trucks in category 4 (with loading capacity of 10 to 18 tonnes and 20-feet container trucks) will fall from VNĐ150,000 (US$6.7) to VNĐ140,000 (US$6.3), while that of category 5 (with loading capacity of 18 tonnes or more and 40-feet container trucks) will drop from VNĐ240,000 (US$10.8) to VNĐ220,000 (US$9.9).

Rates for trucks under category 1, 2 and 3 will remain the same.

The HCM City – Long Thành – Dầu Giây Expressway, worth VNĐ20,630 billion (US$925.3 million), has been in use since August 2015.

The expressway attracts 28,000 – 30,000 vehicles daily and 40,000 – 50,000 vehicles in peak periods. As of June 2016, 21.2 million vehicles had travelled on the road. — VNS
