International industrial machinery expo attracts over 250 firms

HCM CITY — The Việt Nam International Exhibition on Industrial Machinery Equipment, Technology and Products in HCM City opened on November 2 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre.

VINAMAC EXPO 2022 has attracted over 250 Vietnamese firms and those from India, Germany, Taiwan, the US, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, China, and the Czech Republic.

The expo features products and technologies from industries like mechanical engineering and automation, rubber and plastic, food and foodstuff processing, industrial machinery, metallurgy and metalworking, and paints and coatings.

One of the highlights of the event is the ‘Common house’ where businesses are showcasing HCM City’s typical industrial products, and the city Department of Industry and Trade is acquainting visitors with policies and programmes for business development in 2020-30.

There is an India Pavilion where many businesses are showcasing products and technologies such as machine tools, industrial batteries, valves, pneumatic equipment, die casting technologies, surface treatment, water purification systems, air purifiers, temperature sensors, temperature measuring equipment, food processing machinery, and others.

The expo will also feature seminars, a business forum, a welding competition, business matching, and technology and product introduction.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyễn Quang Huy, deputy head of the Agency for Southern Affairs - Ministry of Industry and Trade, said the expo is an important event to restore trade activities post-COVID and a good opportunity for investors, manufacturers and entrepreneurs in Việt Nam and abroad to introduce new products and technologies.

Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngọc, deputy director of the city Department of Industry and Trade, said industrial production has gradually recovered after the pandemic.

The index of industrial production grew at estimated 17.4 per cent year-on-year in the first ten months of the year, with four key industrial sectors growing at 23 per cent, she said.

"VINAMAC EXPO is a practical event, aiming at introducing and promoting products, technologies and machinery and equipment … and enhancing opportunities for co-operation and partnership between local and foreign companies."

Organised by the Việt Nam Advertisement and Fair Exhibition JSC, the Department of Industry and Trade, the HCM City Association of Mechanical-Electrical Enterprises, HCM City Automation Association and others, the exhibition will go on until November 5. — VNS
