HCM CITY (VNS) — Police in HCM City yesterday said the drug criminal investigation department (PC47) has smashed a large drug trafficking ring in the city.

The police seized more than 10kg of crystal meth, two guns and a large amount of cash in the raid.

Seven suspects reportedly connected to this ring are being held for further investigation. They are Phan Anh Tuấn, 39; Nguyễn Minh Tùng, 39; Lê Viết Cường, 43; and Nguyễn Diệu Linh, 24; besides Nguyễn Thanh Cường, 44; Lê Thị Hồng Nhung, 22, from Ha Noi; and Phạm Trung Nghĩa, 32, from HCM City.

After a long period of investigation, the police inspected a car that Nghĩa and Cường were driving last Thursday.

The police found a bag containing 479g of crystal meth and two guns.

Following Cường’s testimony, the police found Tuấn, searched his three different premises and seized nearly 10kg of crystal meth. The items were also seized.

At the police station, Tuấn said he had been buying drugs since the end of 2015 from a person named Huyền, whose background was unclear. Then they sold the drugs in HCM City.
