HÀ NỘI — JW Marriott Phú Quốc Emerald Bay – the first 5-star ++ resort on southern Phú Quốc Island in Kiên Giang Province has been named Asia’s Leading New Resort by the World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia.

The resort overtook famous newcomers in Asia and Australasia, such as Anantara Kalutara Resort (Sri Lanka), Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort and Spa (Sri Lanka), The St. Regis Langkawi (Malaysia), Alila Anji (China), Hoshinoya Bali (Indonesia), and Mövenpick Resort and Spa Jimbaran Bali (Indonesia), to bag the most votes from tourism experts from more than 140 countries.

“We are delighted to be named Asia’s Leading New Resort by our colleagues in the hospitality industry,” said Ty Collins, resort general manager. “The opening of JW Marriott Phú Quốc Emerald Bay marks the birth of luxury hospitality in Phú Quốc and has established a benchmark of excellence and quality for future Marriott developments throughout Asia.”

The construction of JW Marriott Phú Quốc Emerald Bay started in 2015 and the resort opened its doors to the public in December 2016.

Located on Kem Beach – a beautiful stretch of white sand and azure water, the resort has 244 rooms, suites, and stand-alone villas. World-famous architect Bill Bensley’s design narrative for the site was a fictional academy of learning, Lamarck University at the beginning of the 20th century.

Arriving to the resort, visitors will feel like they are students thanks to the white chalk, black boards, school supplies and the collection of trophies on display – awards of an imaginary school’s sports team that are now used as unique décor pieces.
