The ancient city of Hội An in partnership with the embassy of Japan and other Japanese organisations will host the 15th annual “Hội An – Japan Cultural Exchange” from August 18 to 20.

To honour ties between Việt Nam and Japan, the three-day event will re-create the wedding procession of 17th century Princess Ngọc Hoa, a member of the Nguyễn royal family in Huế who married Araki Sotaro, a merchant from Japan’s city of Nagasaki.

Visitors can watch performances of cosplay, martial arts and origami, the art of folding paper, to get a taste of Japanese culture.

The organisers are also expected to hold art shows at the An Hội Garden of Statues with the participation of popular Vietnamese and Japanese singers like Min, Ueno Yuuka, and the One Asia Join Concert music band.

The opening ceremony will take place at 7.30pm on August 19.—VNS
