Vietnam saved 485,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to VNĐ834 million (US$36,612), during the Earth Hour from 8:30pm-9:30pm of Saturday, according to the National Load Dispatch Centre.
Việt Nam has saved 471,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, equivalent to VNĐ764 million (US$33,616) when people nationwide responded to the event switching off unnecessary electrical devices, the Electricity of Vietnam Group’s National Load Dispatch Centre said.
More than 1,000 voluntary students and two ambassadors of the Earth Hour 2017 campaign last Saturday rode bicycles on several streets in the HCM City’s centre to call on residents to switch off lights and unnecessary electric appliances to save energy.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade on Sunday morning launched the Earth Hour 2017 campaign in Hà Nội, delivering the message, “Lights off to turn on the future”.
The capital city’s People’s Committee has launched a campaign to support Earth Hour this year which will be held at 20:30 - 21:30pm on March 25.
