The People’s Court in Bình Thạnh District in HCM city on June 17 sentenced Nguyễn Thị Nga to three and a half years in prison for “violating regulations on road safety” which resulted in a car crash that killed one woman and injured six men.
Traffic accidents, on average, still claim the lives of 21 people and injure 40 others each day
The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has asked the Directorate for Roads of Viet Nam (DRVN) to revise the Government Decree No 46 issued in 2016 towards imposing stricter penalties on drivers whose alcohol content in blood or breath exceeding the permitted level.
The HCM City transport police were yesterday checking up on motorists at the Eastern Region Bus Station to make sure they were driving without using drugs or alcohol. The inspection was conducted after a number of accidents caused by motorists either drunk or high.
