Four killed in Tam Đảo traffic accident identified

Four people killed in a traffic accident at 2:30pm on Sunday in Tam Đảo Town, the northern province of Vĩnh Phúc, have been identified.

VĨNH PHÚC — Four people killed in a traffic accident at 2:30pm on Sunday in Tam Đảo Town, the northern province of Vĩnh Phúc, have been identified.

All were residents in the province. The victims were named as Đặng Đình Phú, 84, Vũ Thị Thành, 78, Nguyễn Văn Thính, 49 and Phùng Đức Chung, 19.

The accident happened after a car, carrying four people, crashed into a motorbike travelling in the same direction. The car and the motorbike drivers were forced off the road and down a steep ravine.

Three people in the car and the 19-year-old motorbike driver were killed. One passenger in the car was injured.

Khuất Việt Hùng, vice chairman of the National Committee on Traffic Safety said representatives of the provincial People’s Committee and the provincial Police Department immediately came to the scene to direct rescue activities after hearing of the accident.

The bodies of the victims were taken to Tam Đảo General Hospital for forensic procedures before being given to their relatives for burial. The injured passenger was taken to Vĩnh Phúc General Hospital for treatment, he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình, also chairman of the national committee on traffic safety told all relevant agencies to quickly investigate the cause of the case.

Bình also ordered the relevant agencies to check the alcohol and drug concentration of the drivers in the traffic accident. — VNS
