Total COVID-19 patients in Việt Nam hits 148

The Ministry of Health on Thursday morning confirmed seven more COVID-19 patients, including five Vietnamese, one French man and one South African woman, bringing the country's total number to 148.

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health on Thursday morning confirmed seven more COVID-19 patients, including five Vietnamese, one French man and one South African woman, bringing the country's total number to 148. 

The 142nd case is a Vietnamese student in the US, 26, living in HCM City. He travelled from Texas on March 8 and transited to Taiwan after arriving at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in HCM City on March 10 on Eva Air flight BR 395, seat number 38A.

He then visited family members at Bình Dân hospital, the US Consulate in HCM City and had contacts with some officials in Bình Chánh District’s Tân Túc Commune to register for temporary residency.

His sample was taken to be tested on March 23 and he is being treated and under quarantine at Cần Giờ hospital.

The 143rd case is a South African woman, 58, residing in Tân Sơn Nhì Ward in HCM City’s Tân Phú District. She travelled from Seattle of the US, transited to Taiwan, and took Eva Air flight BR395, seat number 48A, to Việt Nam on March 21 via Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport. Upon her arrival, she was quarantined.   

She said she had contact with her relatives who tested positive for COVID-19 before coming to Việt Nam.

She started to have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing on March 22 and was transferred to Củ Chi hospital for treatment.

The 144th patient is a Vietnamese student in the UK, 22, living in HCM City’s Phú Nhuận District. He returned Việt Nam on March 22 on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0050, seat number 24D. He is under quarantine in Mekong Delta Trà Vinh Province.

The 145th patient is a Vietnamese man, 34, living in HCM City’s Tân Phú District. He is a nail worker and arrived at Cần Thơ airport in Mekong Delta Cần Thơ City on March 22 on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0050, seat number 0050. He is being treated and quarantined at a local hospital.

The 146th patient is a 17-year-old girl in central Nghệ An Province’s Nghi Lộc District. She returned to Việt Nam from Thailand on March 20. She earlier had contact with a COVID-19 patient in Đà Nẵng. After arriving in Việt Nam, she was taken to a quarantine centre in central Hà Tĩnh Province.

The 147th patient is a Vietnamese student in the UK, 19, living in Hà Nội’s Cầu Giấy District. He returned Việt Nam on March 21 on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0054 via Nội Bài International Airport in Hà Nội. After arriving at the airport, he was taken to a quarantine centre. He was then taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Đông Anh District for treatment.

The 148th patient is a French man, 58, residing in Hà Nội’s Đống Đa District. He travelled from France to Việt Nam on March 12 on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0018. He went to many places in Hà Nội from March 12-19. His sample was taken to be tested on March 19 and he then self-isolated at home. He tested positive for COVID-19 on March 24 and was taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Đông Anh District for treatment.
