QUẢNG NINH — The People’s Court of Quảng Ninh on Monday sentenced four Chinese citizens to a combined 20 years in prison after they were found guilty of "using computer networks, telecommunication networks and electronic means to commit acts of appropriating property".
According to the indictment of the People’s Procuracy of Quảng Ninh Province, Zheng Ren Xian, 28, resident of Chengdu City, Fujian Province, China, was caught by Vietnamese police in Hồng Gai Ward, Hạ Long City while using fraudulent cards to withdraw money from ATMs in the area.
At the time of arrest, police seized 29 fake ATM cards, 323 yuan and VNĐ57.2 million in cash from the subject.
Quảng Ninh Province’s police co-ordinated with the Móng Cái international border guard station to arrest three of his partners. They were Li Dan Yang, 29, resident of Kaiping City, Guangdong Province, China; Feng Yu He, 30, resident of Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province; and Wang Tao, 27, resident of Longyan City, Fujian Province.
The other offenders were captured while they were preparing to leave Móng Cái City and return to China.
Zheng Ren Xian was sentenced to 4 years, 6 months in prison, Feng Yu He to 5 years, 6 months, Wang Tao to 4 years, 6 months and Li Dan Yang to 5 years imprisonment. — VNS
