QUẢNG NINH — A bomb weighing 225kg was discovered and removed from the Vân Đồn-Móng Cái Expressway site in Quảng Thành Commune, Hải Hà District, in the northern province of Quảng Ninh on Monday.
The bomb coded MK82 had a diametre of nearly 0.3m and a length of 1.54m.
Some 93kg of explosives were found inside the bomb.
The bomb, mine and explosive clearance company and the military staff committee of Hải Hà District moved the bomb to the explosion site.
The company will work with authorised agencies to continue with the bomb and mine clearance at the Vân Đồn-Móng Cái Expressway site, after which the site will be handed over to investors.
The construction of Vân Đồn-Móng Cái Expressway is expected to start in the third quarter of this year and finish in 2020.
The four-lane project is being undertaken through the Build-Operate-Transfer investment system, and will cover more than 80km.
It will run through five districts: Vân Đồn, Tiên Yên, Đầm Hà, Hải Hà and Móng Cái City. — VNS
