HÀ NỘI — The Red Cross Society of China has released emergency aid of US$100,000 through the Việt Nam Red Cross Society (VNRC) to help the Vietnamese Government and people overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi and floods.

Chinese Ambassador to Việt Nam He Wei handed over the donation to the VNRC president Bùi Thị Hòa at a ceremony on Monday in Hà Nội.

At the event, Wei expressed his deepest condolences on the losses Việt Nam and the people who have suffered from Typhoon Yagi and the subsequent floods.

“I believe that with the leadership of the Vietnamese Party and Government and the joint efforts of all walks of life in Việt Nam, the people in storm and flood-affected areas will soon overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes,” said Wei.

VNRC president Bùi Thị Hòa highly appreciated the friendship and long-standing traditions shared by the Party, Government and people of China.

“The support of the Red Cross Society of China will provide additional resources for the Việt Nam Red Cross to contribute to providing timely assistance to typhoon and flood victims so that people can soon stabilise their lives,” said Hòa.

The VNRC has deployed emergency relief money and goods worth nearly VNĐ10 billion to help more than 10,300 households or more than 41,500 beneficiaries in 15 provinces and cities affected by Typhoon Yagi and floods. Specifically, VNRC has provided VNĐ3.25 billion in cash, 3,200 boxes of household goods, 3,300 bags of emergency relief goods and one hundred home repair kits.
