HÀ NỘI — Vice State President Võ Thị Ánh Xuân emphasised guidelines and policies adopted by the Party and the State to facilitate children’s all-round development at a meeting with outstanding members of the Hồ Chí Minh Vanguard Children's Union (HVCU) from HCM City.

At the Hà Nội meeting on Wednesday, Xuân also conveyed regards and wishes from President Tô Lâm to the participants.

She noted that Việt Nam is one of the pioneer countries in implementing international conventions on children’s rights, and its efforts in this regard have been commended by many international organisations and friends.

Child care, education and protection is a strategic, long-term task, and the responsibility shared by all-level Party Committees, authorities, organisations, families, schools and the entire society, the official stressed, asking ministries, agencies and localities, especially those working with child affairs, to review the implementation of relevant guidelines and policies, and propose new policies.

Xuân expressed her hope that children will carry forwards national traditions and study harder to become good citizens, contributing to the national construction.

Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Phan Văn Mãi affirmed that local Party organisation and authorities will pay more heed to child protection, care and education, especially disadvantaged children.

The city will propose policies in support of children’s comprehensive development in line with the Politburo’s directive on enhancing child care, education and protection, he said.

The children are in Hà Nội for the “I love my fatherland” journey first launched in HCM City in 2009. During this year’s programme, they have learned about the Điện Biên Phủ Victory (May 7, 1954), the 70th anniversary of Hà Nội's Liberation Day (October 10) and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Vừ A Dính who laid down his life at the age of 15. — VNS
