HÀ NỘI - In celebration of its 25th anniversary and the publication of its first issue, the Kinh Tế & Đô Thị (Economy & Urban) Newspaper was honoured to receive the First-Class Labour Medal presented by the President.

On the morning of December 29, 2023 in Hà Nội, the Kinh Tế & Đô Thị Newspaper organised a ceremony to receive the First-Class Labour Medal and commemorate the 25th anniversary of the publication of its first issue on January 1, 1999.

Numerous officials were in attendance at the ceremony, including the Chairman of the Hà Nội People's Committee Chairman Trần Sỹ Thanh, who presented an ensign to commemorate the newspaper's anniversary.

On November 3, 1998, Hoàng Văn Nghiên, Chairman of the Hà Nội People's Committee, signed a decision to establish the Kinh Tế & Đô Thị Newspaper. After nearly two months of preparation, the first issue of the Economic & Urban Newspaper was officially published on January 1, 1999. The newspaper serves as the media agency of the Hà Nội People's Committee, connecting the Party Committee and government with the people in the capital.

The newspaper, evolving from a single printed edition to a multi-media agency, now encompasses various publications, including the printed edition, electronic editions, and specialised editions such as Hanoitimes.

In the beginning, the newspaper had only 31 employees, and has now grown to a collective of 169 individuals. With offices in Hà Nội, and branches and representatives in several cities across Việt Nam, the newspaper has expanded its reach.

A significant milestone occurred on August 16, 2023, when the Hà Nội People's Committee approved the self-management plan for the organisation and its workforce for the period 2023-2025. This led to the establishment of two new units: the Foreign Information Department and the Consumer Electronic Section.

The newspaper has excelled in information dissemination, policy advocacy, supervision, and social criticism. Its articles, investigations, reports, and comments have gained widespread acclaim from readers, agencies, and units. Trusted by the local authorities of Hà Nội, the newspaper is often chosen to organise and conduct significant events, forums, conferences, and symposiums in the city, such as the Hà Nội Investment Promotion Conference held on June 4, 2021.

In recent years, the Kinh Tế & Đô Thị Newspaper has received numerous awards from the Việt Nam Journalists' Association, the Central Propaganda Department, and the Ministry of Information & Communications.

At the ceremony, the Kinh Tế & Đô Thị Newspaper thanked the Hà Nội Party Committee, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee, ministries, branches, central and local press agencies, domestic and foreign businesses, and readers for their trust, support, and companionship over the past 25 years.

In the future, the newspaper is determined to overcome difficulties, innovate, and strive to fulfil the assigned tasks, contributing to the capital's development, the country's development, and the development of the press sector.
