HÀ NỘI — A campaign for breast cancer screening was launched on Tuesday in Hà Nội to mark Việt Nam's Women’s Day (October 20).
The campaign “Joint efforts for our beloved women” was launched by the Brighter Future Fund, which supports cancer patients, the Roche Pharma Việt Nam Co Ltd and other partners.
The campaign will provide free breast cancer screening for 3,400 women. The screening will be conducted at five hospitals including the K Hospital, Bạch Mai Hospital, Hà Nội Oncology Hospital, Chợ Rẫy Hospital and HCM City Oncology Hospital.
The screening will last from October 18 to November 20.
At the launch ceremony, associate professor Nguyễn Thị Xuyên, former Deputy Minister of Health and chairwoman of the Brighter Future Fund, said: “Breast cancer screening is very important for women. Via the campaign, we hope that Vietnamese women will have more preventive skills and raise their awareness on the disease.”
“I hope women will know how to take care of themselves, especially with periodic breast cancer screening,” she said.
Lennor Carrillo, general director of Roche Pharma Việt Nam, said: “Throughout nearly 30 years operating in Việt Nam, Roche is focused on improving the entire healthcare ecosystem that impacts patient wellbeing, moving beyond the traditional role of pharmaceutical companies as mere providers of therapies to a strong focus on partnering with the government, hospitals, and doctors to comprehensively improve the lives of patients.”
“Through the campaign all of us are kicking off today, millions will get access to information on breast cancer and thousands of high-risk women will be offered free breast cancer screenings. Together, we are in a unique position to offer such precious gifts of LIFE to many women, and on behalf of Roche Pharma Việt Nam, I truly appreciate your continued support and valuable contribution on this journey.” — VNS
