President Quang welcomes newly-accredited ambassadors

HÀ NỘI – President Trần Đại Quang hosted receptions for the newly accredited ambassadors from the US, Nigeria and Greece in Hà Nội on Monday.

Welcoming US Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink, President Quang said Vietnamese agencies are gearing up for US President Donald Trump’s State visit to Việt Nam along with his participation in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017, which is taking place in the central city of Đà Nẵng, from November 4-11.

The President urged the two sides to increase effective cooperation mechanisms and expand exchanges among officials, departments and localities as well as promote policy, defence-security dialogues, and cooperation in education and culture.

He praised US efforts to clean toxic chemicals at Đà Nẵng airport and asked the country to provide more assistance in the field.

He said Việt Nam highly values American assistance in ensuring aviation and navigation freedom, security and safety in the region, he noted.

Ambassador Kritenbrink said he wants to promote the Việt Nam-US comprehensive partnership during his working tenure.

At a meeting with Nigeria’s Ambassador Francis Efeduma and Greek Ambassador Ioannis Raptakis, the President affirmed Việt Nam’s consistent policy of developing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Nigeria and Greece.

He said he hoped Việt Nam and these two countries will maintain high-level delegation visits and increase people-to-people and cultural exchanges while developing more effective measures to boost cooperation in economics, trade and investment on par with their sound political ties. – VNS
