Court cooperation helps enhance Việt Nam-Laos ties

ĐÀ NẴNG — Enhanced cooperation and experience sharing between the High People’s Court in the central city of Đà Nẵng and the People’s Court of central Laos will contribute to bolstering the comprehensive collaboration between the two Parties, States and peoples, a senior leader of Đà Nẵng has said.

Hosting a reception for a delegation from the Lao court in Đà Nẵng on Wednesday, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Lê Trung Chinh highlighted that the Đà Nẵng Party organisation and people always attach much importance to and treasure the special traditional friendship between the two nations as well as the friendship and effective cooperation between Đà Nẵng and southern and central Lao provinces.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice of the People’s Court of central Laos Phom Su Van Philachan expressed his impression on the socio-economic development and sound infrastructure of Đà Nẵng City, and thanked the city’s leaders for supporting five southern and central provinces.

He also spoke highly of the achievements that the High People’s Court in Đà Nẵng has carved out over the past time, particularly the building of e-court and arrangement of online trial.

He said he hopes that Đà Nẵng and the five Lao provinces will continue promoting cooperation and development for further success in the coming time.

Earlier, the two courts held talks and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaching consensus on enhancing collaboration and experience sharing to improve trial quality.

Đà Nẵng has signed 37 agreements and MoUs with seven Lao localities. Its cooperation ties with five southern and central Lao provinces has been carried out effectively with many projects implemented, including construction and upgrade of schools, public facilities and Vietnamese language teaching centre, granting of scholarships for Lao students, and support for the study of local socio-economic development planning.

Some VNĐ200 billion (over US$7.86 million) has been spent on the cooperation programmes so far. VNS
