World leaders congratulate Vietnamese President, NA Chairman

French President Emmanuel Macron sent warm congratulations and best wishes for success in President Lâm's new role.

HÀ NỘI — Leaders of Japan, France, Egypt, Austria and Greece have sent letters of congratulations to Tô Lâm on his election as the Vietnamese President by the 15th National Assembly.

In his letter, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio expressed confidence that President Lâm, a close friend of Japan, will further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

He emphasised Việt Nam's importance as a significant partner of Japan and expressed a desire to elevate bilateral relations to a new height and enhance cooperation on the international arena.

On his part, French President Emmanuel Macron sent warm congratulations and best wishes for success in President Lâm's new role. He recalled the bilateral priorities discussed during his talks with Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng in October 2023 and affirmed France's readiness to strengthen friendly and trustworthy relations in all areas.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, and Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou also extended their congratulations.

Additionally, King Frederik X of Denmark and Danish Parliament Speaker Søren Gade congratulated both President Lâm and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn.

Speaker of the Legislative Council of Brunei Abdul Rahman Taib, President of the French NA Yaël Braun-Pivet, and President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania also extended their congratulations to Chairman Mẫn. — VNS
