Cultural show series celebrate victory and peace

A series of special cultural and art programmes themed on victory and peace will be organized in HCM City to celebrate the 47th  National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day.

HCM CITY— A series of special cultural and art programmes themed on victory and peace will be organized in HCM City to celebrate the 47th  National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day.  

These will include fashion shows and concerts titled “Mùa Xuân Đại Thắng” (Victory Spring) and “Tình Yêu và Hoà Bình” (Love and Peace), respectively. Hundreds of artists from art troupes and clubs will participate in these shows that will be staged in cultural houses in Thủ Đức City and the districts of Bình Chánh, Củ Chi, Nhà Bè and Tân Phú. 

Revolutionary songs by famous composers Trần Hoàn, Hoàng Vân and Phan Huỳnh Điểu will be performed as will folk songs in praise of the country and its soldiers. 

Contemporary dances featuring HCM City and its history and culture in different periods will also be part of the programmes held at 8pm every night on April 29-30 and May 1- 2.  

Cải lương (reformed opera) stars of the Trần Hữu Trang Cải Lương Theatre and Phương Nam Theatre will perform at an event titled Việt Nam Trong Trái Tim Ta ( Việt Nam is in Our Heart) 

The artists will perform tài tử music — a part of the region’s traditional music that began 100 years ago, depicting the daily lives of southern farmers who have worked hard to develop their land and wealth. 

Prominent among the performers |will be People’s Artist Quang Thọ and People’s Artist Thoại Miêu. 

“Our show, Việt Nam Trong Trái Tim Ta, will highlight the country’s history, culture and lifestyle,” said actress Miêu, who has 30 years of experience in cải lương (reformed opera). 

This programme will open 8pm at the Hồ Chí Minh Television Theatre in District 3. It will be aired live on HTV9 and VOH channels. 

Other events held during the holiday include photo and painting exhibitions on Vietnamese seas and islands at the Đầm Sen and Suối Tiên parks in districts 9 and 11
