HCM CITY — Việt Nam is a potential market for firms specialising in processed agricultural products from South Korea.
This statement was made by Im Chang Ho, chief of Hamyang County in the country’s southeast Gyeongnam Province, at the Việt Nam-RoK trade exchange held on Tuesday in HCM City.
South Korea’s agricultural goods, which are produced by hi-technology, are internationally recognised for their safety and high quality, Im Chang Ho said.
He also said Hamyang County is famous for mountain ginseng, fruit juice and nature-based beauty care products, which are favoured by several Vietnamese customers, especially those in HCM City. He added that the exchange is a good opportunity for South Korean firms to seek partners and boost exports.
Speaking highly of the quality of South Korea’s processed agri-products, Trần Ngọc Liêm, deputy director of the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)’s HCM City Branch, said Vietnamese enterprises should get experience in organising trade fairs and product launch events from their counterparts.
He also added that by welcoming South Korean products, Vietnamese agri-businesses gain access to hi-technologies to improve planting techniques, thus enhancing the quality and adding value to their farm products.
According to VCCI, agricultural trade value between the two countries has increased since the Việt Nam-South Korea free trade agreement came into effect in late 2015.
In the past 10 months of 2016, import value of South Koream agricultural products to Việt Nam rose 10 per cent, while export value of Vietnamese farm goods to the partner surged over 30 per cent from the same period last year. — VNS
