HÀ NỘI — Former Việt Nam national U23 player Nguyễn Hữu Khôi scored a goal on his debut with Siheung City FC in the South Korean K3 League Basic tournament during the weekend.

His goal at the 70th minute played a key role in helping his club beat Goyang Citizen 2-0 and bag their first three points in the opener of the fifth-grade competition in South Korea.

Midfielder Khôi used to be a member of the Việt Nam U23 team under Japanese coach Toshya Miura in 2014. The team entered the quarter-finals at the Incheon Asian Games in South Korea.

Before signing a one-year contract with Siheung City, Khôi played for first division side Đắk Lắk FC.

Khôi is one of the many Vietnamese players who have competed in South Korea. While the others have returned home, he is the sole Vietnamese in the country, and the only one who could score a goal here. — VNS
