Đồng Nai Province trade edges down, surplus shoots up

ĐỒNG NAI Đồng Nai’s foreign trade in the first four months of the year topped US$10.8 billion, 2.67 per cent down year-on-year but with the surplus shooting up by 43 per cent, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

Exports increased marginally to $6.1 billion while imports fell 7 per cent to $4.7 billion.

The surplus of almost $1.4 billion accounted for 43 per cent of the country’s surplus.

Items whose exports increased include footwear, machinery, pepper, and coffee.

Imports of machinery and equipment fell by 5 per cent, of raw plastic by 6 per cent and of chemicals by 10 per cent.

Exports to the US, Japan and South Korea increased, while those to China and Belgium declined. — VNS
