Reference exchange rate down at start of week

State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at VNĐ22,487 per US dollar on the first day of the week on April 16.

HÀ NỘI — State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at VNĐ22,487 per US dollar on the first day of the week on April 16.

This was down by five Việt Nam đồng from the last day of the previous week.
With the current trading band of +/- 3 per cent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is VNĐ23,165 per US dollar and the floor rate is VNĐ21,721 per US dollar.
The opening hour rate in major commercial banks showed a slight drop compared to April 13. 
BIDV cut five Việt Nam đồng from both rates, listing the buying rate at VNĐ22,750 per US dollar and the selling rate at VNĐ22,820 per US dollar. 
Vietinbank is buying the greenback at VNĐ22,746 per US dollar and selling at VNĐ22,816 per US dollar, down by six Việt Nam đồng

Meanwhile, Vietcombank kept its rates unchanged since April 13, with the buying rate listed at VNĐ22,755 per US dollar and the selling rate at VNĐ22,825 per US dollar.
Last week, the reference exchange rate was on a downward trend on the first two days but then turned around to go up on Wednesday. It was kept unchanged on Thursday only to be revised up again on the last working day of the week. — VNS
