HÀ NỘI — Two more COVID-19 community infections were announced Sunday morning, including one in Hà Nội.
A 63-year-old man who works at a pizza restaurant in Cầu Giấy District tested positive for coronavirus on August 7.
He works in the same eatery on Trần Thái Tông Street as patient 447, who was confirmed positive for the virus on July 29.
Since that case was announced, anyone who came into close contact with the patient 447 at work, including the 63-year-old, were quarantined immediately and the restaurant closed.
After detecting the new case, Bắc Từ Liêm District’s authority sprayed disinfectant at the new patient’s house and four members of his family were taken into quarantine.
Neighbours living near his home in Phú Diễn Ward have been ordered to self-quarantine.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old woman from the northern province of Bắc Giang has also tested positive for COVID-19.
She and five members of her family visited Đà Nẵng for a summer holiday between July 21 and 24.
The woman, who lives in Yên Định Commune, Sơn Động District, has become the sixth member of her family to test positive for the virus.
The two new cases bring the total number of people to test positive for COVID-19 to 812. Of those, 317 are imported and 355 all connected to the central city.
So far, 10 people have died from COVID-19-related complications, all with underlying health conditions.
There are currently more than 178,900 people quarantined nationwide at hospitals, other facilities and their homes. — VNS
