HÀ NỘI — Mass fish deaths have occurred in recent days in Yên Sơn Lake, Hoàng Mai District in Hà Nội.
The Vietnam News Agency on Sunday reported the dead fish had drifted into the lake banks and caused a foul smell.
A spokesperson of the Yên Sở construction work management unit under the Hà Nội Sewerage Co Ltd, which manages the lake, said the unit assigned about 20 workers to collect the dead fish.
On average, the unit collected about one or two carts of fish per day.
The spokesperson said the fish may have died due to hot weather and pollution from wastewater.
It was not the first time a mass fish death has hit the lake, which the spokesperson blamed on changing weather and people throwing rubbish into the lake.
