TÂY NINH — In order to enhance infrastructure development, attract investment and connect regions, Tây Ninh Province is determined to speed up the progress of key transport projects in the area.

One of the key projects that the southern province is paying special attention to is the HCM City - Mộc Bài Expressway under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.

The 51km-long expressway will link Ring Road No.3 in HCM City’s Hóc Môn District with Mộc Bài, an international border gate between Việt Nam and Cambodia in Tây Ninh Province.

The first stage is expected to cost VNĐ19.6 trillion (US$858 million).

The new expressway is expected to reduce traffic pressure on National Highway No.22, contributing to the socio-economic development of the city, Tây Ninh Province and neighbouring countries, while shortening the time for transporting passengers and goods between the Southeast region and Cambodia through Mộc Bài International Border Gate.

According to the plan, the first phase of the expressway project will start construction in June 2025 and be completed in 2027 with at least four lanes.

In the second phase, by 2045, it will be expanded to six or eight lanes.

According to the provincial Department of Construction, the expressway is an important infrastructure project, contributing to promoting trade and regional connectivity between Tây Ninh and the southern key economic region.

Along with speeding up site clearance for the HCM City - Mộc Bài Expressway, Tây Ninh is also focusing on legal procedures to implement the Gò Dầu - Xa Mát Expressway project.

The provincial People's Committee committed to speeding up the implementation of legal procedures to complete the project before 2030.

The first phase of Gò Dầu - Xa Mát Expressway is 28km long with four lanes.

The total investment of the project is about VNĐ7.5 trillion.

This is the main traffic axis running from the North to the South of the province and connecting with the HCM City - Mộc Bài Expressway, creating a driving force to promote the development of Tây Ninh Province's economic sectors such as industry, trade, services, tourism and agriculture.

Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyễn Hồng Thanh said that the province has directed localities and relevant units to drastically speed up the compensation and site clearance progress to meet the handover schedule for investors, while also removing obstacles related to the land valuation process and compensation plan.

In order to ensure the handover of the HCM City - Mộc Bài Expressway before April 30, Tây Ninh has established a special working team. Led by the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the team will closely coordinate with localities such as Gò Dầu District, Trảng Bàng Town and Bến Cầu District to unify the compensation plan, creating synchronisation in compensation and site clearance work.

In addition, the province is also actively adjusting the public investment plan to prioritise capital allocation from slow-progressing projects to projects with complete investment procedures and projects in need of additional capital to speed up project implementation progress. — VNS
