HÀ NỘI — Conglomerate Vingroup officially opened the Vinmec Smart City International General Hospital in Nam Từ Liêm District, Hà Nội on October 21.

With a total investment of VNĐ1.5 trillion, Vinmec Smart City is the eighth medical facility of the Vinmec Healthcare System in Việt Nam.

Equipped as a world-leading modern medical facility and with a team of prestigious experts and doctors, the hospital is expected to open up new choices for high-quality medical services for residents in the west of Hà Nội.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Trần Văn Thuấn said that improving the quality of medical services was one of the health sector’s top tasks.

"In Việt Nam, the combination of public and private healthcare not only contributes to reducing the load on the public healthcare system but also opens up diverse and high-quality healthcare options for people. I believe that Vinmec Smart City will inherit experience and transfer the most advanced technology to become a model of modern hospital, keeping up with current healthcare trends in the world.

"In particular, the hospital would contribute to reducing the overload on public and central hospitals, encouraging patients to use medical examination and treatment services according to international standards right here in Việt Nam," said Thuấn.

Located in the Vinhomes Smart City Urban Area, the hospital has a floor space of nearly 60,000 square metres, a capacity to serve at least 70,000 visits yearly, including operating in 14 specialities such as obstetrics and gynaecology, offering surgery with endoscopic and minimally invasive methods to treat digestive diseases, orthopaedic trauma and a strong application of 3D technology.

As the eighth hospital in the system to officially come into operation, Vinmec Smart City also inherits medical achievements and professional management methods according to the highest standards in the world, to ensure treatment quality and patient safety.

In addition to key specialities serving the community, Vinmec Smart City also focus its activities on providing high-tech screening and diagnostic services for early cancer detection in efforts to become a leading hospital in the region. The hospital will also operate a private haematology and cell therapy centre to help cancer patients access new and effective treatments such as CAR-T or cell therapy and immunotherapy.

Vinmec Smart City is the first hospital in Việt Nam to apply the SystemOne electronic medical record management system. The advantage of SystemOne is that it allows doctors at different medical facilities to share data for consultations and provide the best treatment regimen for patients, along with the most advanced security measures.

In addition, the hospital also combines artificial intelligence (AI) technology to help doctors detect promptly, diagnose accurately and design effective treatment regimens for each group of diseases.

Vinmec Smart City also is the first hospital within the Vinmec Healthcare System to systematically deploy the Hospital Operation Simulation Programme, in compliance with international standards. The system was developed by experts from Vinmec and the Simulation Centre - VinUni University to improve the skills of handling clinical situations for the medical team, minimise the risk of errors, coordinate with multiple specialities and continuously improve to bring the most perfect healthcare services to patients.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr Hoàng Đức Vinh, Professional Director of Vinmec Smart City Hospital said: "Vinmec Smart City not only gathers the most advanced technologies but also inherits the experiences and improvements from the achievements of the system in terms of expertise and operation in recent years. The hospital has a close combination of care - training and research and development, aiming to build a completely new model of the international standard hospital, catching up with the most modern health care trends in the world."

Besides the system of public medical examination and treatment facilities, Việt Nam has 384 private hospitals, accounting for 24 per cent of the total number of hospitals. However, the number of beds in private hospitals only accounts for 5.8 per cent, according to the Ministry of Health. — VNS
