Prime Minister conducts inspection of Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum's periodic maintenance

HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính on Monday inspected the recently completed periodic maintenance of the Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum.

Following the inspection, the PM met with the Mausoleum's Management Board to discuss the complex's management and future plans.

During the meeting, the PM praised them for being instrumental in preserving the legacy of Việt Nam's founding father. It has closely advised the country's leadership on the long-term care of President Hồ Chí Minh's remains, ensuring their absolute safety.

He also praised the board for its efforts to keep the Mausoleum, Ba Đình Square, the Memorial for Fallen Heroes and other relevant facilities neat and tidy, ensuring a seamless experience for all who come to pay their respects.

He highlighted a major milestone this year: the completion of the Mausoleum's periodic maintenance, which was implemented to enhance the overall condition of the historic site.

The PM urged the board and relevant agencies to address ongoing challenges by stepping up communication efforts and embracing digital transformation to better serve visitors.

Highlighting the complex's role as a beacon of revolutionary education and patriotism, he also called for enhanced collaboration to maintain its continued status as a cultural and political landmark.

He directed the board to strive for excellence in fulfilling their duties, particularly in preserving President Hồ Chí Minh's remains. He also called for greater efficiency, decisiveness and innovation in their work.

"We must strive harder, be more decisive and be more effective," said the PM.

Additionally, he stressed the need for clear responsibilities, constant vigilance and preparedness for any potential incidents.

Technological advancements also have a role to play. He emphasised the importance of using technological advancements in preservation research to achieve complete self-sufficiency by 2030.

He also called for strengthening political and ideological education for all staff involved in the complex's operations.

Finally, he tasked relevant ministries, agencies, and the Hà Nội People's Committee with working closely with the board to ensure the complex's smooth operations.

In a move sure to be welcomed by many, he announced the reopening of the Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum to the public on August 13, 2024, after two months of maintenance.

Between August 15, 2023, and July 31, 2024, more than 2 million people, Vietnamese and foreign, visited the Mausoleum to pay their respects. Approximately 14,000 others honoured fallen heroes at the Memorial.

In the first half of 2024, the Presidential Palace Historical Site drew more than 1.6 million visitors, while the Mausoleum welcomed approximately 430,000. — VNS
