HÀ NỘI — The mountainous and midland regions of Northern Việt Nam are expected to continue experiencing thunderstorms and heavy rainfall until June 21.
Overnight and this morning, June 15, moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded in the mountainous and midland regions of Northern Việt Nam.
Rainfall amounts exceeded 100 mm in some locations, including Du Già (Hà Giang), Hồng Thái (Tuyên Quang) and Trương Lương (Cao Bằng).
The next day, June 16, is expected to bring more of the same to the regions. Rainfall could range from 30 to 70 mm, with a few unlucky spots getting hit with over 150 mm. Most of the rains would come at night and in the morning.
Down in the lowlands, weather is forecast to be a bit calmer, with scattered thunderstorms on the menu. Some areas might get a downpour with 20 to 40 mm of rain, and a few unlucky spots could see over 70 mm.
Just like in the mountains, most of the rains are expected to fall at night and in the morning.
Southern Việt Nam, today and tonight, June 15, is forecast to experience moderate rains and thunderstorms.
Some areas might get pounded with heavy to torrential rain, with totals reaching between 20 and 50 mm, with a few unlucky spots exceeding 80 mm.
The Central Highlands can also expect scattered thunderstorms, with some areas seeing heavy rain of 15 to 30 mm, and a few unlucky spots exceeding 60 mm. —VNS
