HÀ NỘI — One the country’s most beloved indie artists Thái Vũ (Vũ) will organise a liveshow today in Hà Nội.

The liveshow Hành Tinh Song Song (Parallel Universe) will take place at the Hà Nội Children’s Palace, 36 Lý Thái Tổ Street.

Vũ will perform eight songs, some of which for the first time. Some have already won people’s hearts but will be remixed to bring new feeling for the audience.

Vũ will be joined by Skylines Beyond Our Reach band, Empty Spaces band, singer Mạc Mai Sương and singer Vũ Đinh Trọng Thắng.

The inspiration for the liveshow comes from his own life.

“The motto of this liveshow and the song Hành Tinh Song Song is ‘Maybe in a parallel universe, we will be happy together’. It comes from my broken love.”

In recent years, indie artists like Vũ has brought a new wind to Vietnamese music. Along with Vũ, Ngọt and Da Lab have been praised by audiences and experts.

“Independent music (indie) is music produced independently from commercial record labels or their subsidiaries, a process that may include an autonomous, do-it-yourself approach to recording and publishing,” he said.

Vũ was born in 1995. Living on a campus together with many artists, Vũ soon expressed his aptitude and passion for music.

Music lovers first learned about him in 2016 with songs uploaded onto YouTube and Soundcloud. He officially became an underground artist with a large number of fans. His music, pop acoustic, has touched people’s hearts.

He has organised two liveshows. The previous one held last year at the Youth Theatre sold out 3,000 tickets within several hours.

Singer-songwriter Vũ has been dubbed Prince of Indie. He has been nominated for the WeChoice Awards, a noble music award, for two consecutive years.

“However, I think I am still an amateur,” said Vũ.

“Veteran composer Trần Tiến once told me that a professional artist composes music with their mind, an amateur artist does it with heart. For me, I need emotion and inspiration to create, so I’m still an amateur.”

The liveshow Hành Tinh Song Song is considered a gift for his fans and an experiment as he will release a debut album with the same name next month, he said.

Vũ has a large number of fans abroad who are overseas Vietnamese and foreigners, so he will also organise a show abroad, perhaps in Thailand or China. — VNS
