ĐẮK LAWSK Two intangible heritages of the northern province of Phú Thọ – the worship of Hùng Kings and xoan singing – are being introduced to the public via an exhibition taking place in Buôn Ma Thuột City, the central province of Đắk Lắk.

The exhibition includes 31 images and panels, together with artefacts and ritual objects, that showcase the two intangible cultural heritages of humanity.

Particularly, xoan singing is performed within the framework of the event.

According to the Director of the Hùng Vương Museum in Phú Thọ Province, Ngô Đức Quý, the exhibition aims to promote the cultural heritage and unique tourism products of Phú Thọ, as well as strengthen the exchange and connection between cultural heritage regions across the country.

It is also expected to raise awareness of ancestral traditions and community spirit. It also affirms the commitment of the Phú Thọ provincial government, the Vietnamese government and the international community to protecting these two heritages and ensuring their continued vitality, which is celebrated by humanity, he added.

The worship of Hùng Kings and xoan singing in Phú Thọ were inscribed by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2012 and 2017, respectively. Xoan singing is an integral and inseparable part of the worship of Hùng Kings, the founders of the nation. The folk verses and melodies of the singing convey messages of gratitude to ancestors, praise the spirit of unity, and foster community cohesion within the cultural space of villages and communities.
