HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese Government has set the goal of having at least 10 businesspersons named in the list of the world top US dollar billionaires by 2030.

The goal was raised in the Government’s Resolution No 66/NQ-CP issued on Thursday on the action programme to implement the Resolution No 41-NQ/TW dated October 10, 2023 about fostering the influence of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new era.

Under the programme, Việt Nam also aims to have at least 5 among the most powerful entrepreneurs of Asia.

By 2030, Việt Nam will have at least 2 million enterprises, more than doubling the current number.

Enterprises will contribute 66-70 per cent of the country’s gross domestic products, create 32-38 per cent of the total jobs in the economy and make up for 98-99 per cent of the total trade value.

About 2025 per cent of enterprises will be women-led.

The number of enterprises ranked in the list of the most valuable brands will increase by 10 per cent per year.

To achieve these goals, the Government asked for policies to be improved to create favourable business environment for entrepreneurs and enterprises together with the building of corporate culture and ethics as well as promoting the national spirit.

According to the world’s billionaires list by Forbes in April, Việt Nam had six billionaires including Vingroup chairman Phạm Nhật Vượng, Vietjet chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo, Hoà Phát Group chairman Trần Đình Long, Techcombank chairman Hồ Hùng Anh, Thaco chairman Trần Bá Dương and Masan chairman Nguyễn Đăng Quang.

As of the end of 2023, there are about 920,000 enterprises in operation in Việt Nam. The country aims to have at least 1 million enterprises by the end of this year and 1.5 million by 2025. — VNS
