NINH THUẬN -- A solar power plant costing VNĐ747 billion (US$32 million) opened in the south central province of Ninh Thuận last week.

The opening ceremony was witnessed by Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tòng Thị Phóng and provincial leaders.
Financed by the Phước Hữu JSC, the plant covers an area of over 32ha in Phước Hữu Commune. It has a designed production capacity of 30MWp.
It has 91,650 solar panels, 12 transformers and more than 5km of 110kv line.
The plant was first connected to the national grid in April 2019. It is expected to generate nearly 48,000MWh of electricity per year.
Local authorities expect the plant to ease power shortages and contribute to provincial economic development, and helping the province become a renewable energy centre.
Ninh Thuận is hoping to attract wind and solar power projects with total respective capacities of 1,429MW and 3,912MW by 2030. To realise this goal, the province is promoting investment attraction and creating the best possible conditions for investors.
Investors operating in the local renewable energy sector will be exempt from rent during the implementation of their projects.

They will be exempt from corporate income tax for four years and it will be cut by half for the nine following years. Additionally, the projects will also be exempt from tariffs on imported goods. - VNS
