HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thành Tâm won the eighth stage of the HCM City Television Cycling Cup yesterday.
Tâm from team Gạo Hạt Ngọc Trời An Giang beat brothers Lê Văn Duẩn and Lê Nguyệt Minh of Mega Market to the finish line to take the lead in the 167km stage from Quy Nhơn to Pleiku City in which Tâm completed in 4:49.08.
Minh still won the green jersey as the best sprinter.
With eight points awarded after finishing first in the An Khê mountain pass, Golakhour Mirsamad Pourseyed of Lộc Trời Group won the red jersey as the King of Mountain.
After eight stages, Huỳnh Thanh Tùng of Military Zone 7 retained his yellow jersey for the best overall time.
Today, cyclists will compete in the ninth 36km stage around Đoàn Kết Square in PLeiku City.
The event will finish on April 30 to mark the 44th anniversary of Southern Việt Nam’s liberation and the Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2019). — VNS
