Since parting ways with coach Kiatisuk Senamuang, Hà Nội Police have experienced five defeats, including two losses under coach Polking. So the convincing 5-1 win over Hải Phòng helped take some pressure off the team.

HÀ NỘI — Head coach of Hà Nội Police Club, Mano Polking, praised midfielder Nguyễn Quang Hải after the team's 5-1 win over Hải Phòng in the V-League 1 2023-24 at Hàng Đẫy Stadium on Thursday.

Since parting ways with coach Kiatisuk Senamuang, Hà Nội Police have experienced five defeats, including two losses under coach Polking, but the convincing 5-1 win over Hải Phòng should take some pressure off them all.

Evaluating their performance coach Polking said: "This win helps them relieve some of the pressure on the team.

"We played with the style of play we believe in. After an unsuccessful period, we still believe in the planned playing style and achieved results. This victory is very important, to start the next season with the proposed style of play."

He also commended Quang Hải, who scored a goal and provided an assist, for his great performance in the victory over Hải Phòng.

"I'm proud of Hải. You can see how much he runs, defends, accelerates and plays well. That comes from Hải himself, encouragement from the club president and coordination among players. Hải is a great player in Vietnamese football."

As for players taking time out to watch the Euros, Brazilian Polking said he was open-minded. "The club does not make rules that force players to watch or not. We let the players free to do what they want and that is a good way for the players to learn."

By contrast, coach Chu Đình Nghiêm of Hải Phòng said:" This is the end of the season, playing continuously, so it's very tiring.

"We told the players to make sure their health is prioritised. For betting, it is a personal matter, we remind and advise them that it is not good. If they want to pursue a career as a football player, if anything happens, it will greatly affect their career." VNS
