Thirty-four new cases on Friday evening

Thirty-four new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Friday evening, increasing the total number of patients to 784.

HÀ NỘI — Thirty-four new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Friday evening, increasing the total number of patients to 784.

Of those, 32 were community transmitted cases relating to Đà Nẵng City and two were imported, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced.

Among the patients, 22 were from Đà Nẵng City, eight were from Quảng Nam Province, one from Hải Dương Province, while two imported cases were quarantined in HCM City and Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Province.

Patient 751 is a 45-year-old man residing Cam Ranh City of Khánh Hoa Province. Previously, he took a business trip in Hà Nội and met his wife and children who are residing in Sơn Trà District of Đà Nẵng City but were in Hà Nội on July 23.

He got a fever on August 1 and visited the General Hospital of Hải Dương Province where he tested positive.

He is being treated at the Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases.

Patient 752 is a 30-year-old woman from Phúc Thọ District, Hà Nội. She travelled to Đà Nẵng with her family from July 24 to 26.   

On August 2, she had a cough. Three days later, she experienced a fever. The next day, she tested positive and was quarantined and treated at the Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases.

Patient 753 is in HCM City. He is a 30-year-old Philippine citizen. He flew from the Philippines to HCM City’s Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport on flight CX906 which transited in Hong Kong.

He was quarantined upon arrival and tested positive. He is being treated at the Củ Chi field hospital.

Patient 754 is in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province. The 30-year-old travelled on tanker Texiana from Qatar to Vũng Tàu Port on July 28. He was quarantined on the ship and tested after docking. He tested positive for the virus twice. There were nine positive cases on the ship.

He is being treated at Bà Rịa Hospital.

Twenty-two patients, from 755 to 771, and 780 to 784, are in Đà Nẵng. Among the cases, 16 were patients in hospitals, three were F1, two were caregivers, and one was in Hải Châu District. The movements of the final cases are being investigated.

Eight patients, from 722 to 779, are from Quảng Nam Province. Seven cases were F1. One was visiting a relative who was at the Kidney Department of Đà Nẵng Hospital.

The eight patients were quarantined at the general hospital of Quảng Nam Province.

Also on Friday, three patients being treated at the General Hospital of Nam Định Province recovered from COVID-19.

Patient 387, a 25-year-old man was admitted on July 19. After seven days of treatment, he tested negative for the virus three times on July 27 and 31, and August 3.

Patient 410 is a 37-year-old man transferred to the hospital on July 23. His test results were negative three times on July 27 and 31, and August 3.

As of Friday evening, Việt Nam recorded total 784 cases of COVID-19, of which 314 were imported and 330 related to Đà Nẵng since July 25.

Until now, 178,451 people have been quarantined, including 5,870 people quarantined at hospitals, 24,106 people at quarantine facilities and 178,475 people quarantined at home.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, as many as 395 patients in Việt Nam have recovered from COVID-19 and 10 deaths were reported linked to the disease.— VNS
